From Alaska to Panama, to the Far East and back to his home in Malibu, 70-year-old John Sibert has done everything from teaching at universities, traveling with the United States Marine Corps and consulting with the air and water pollution subcommittee of the U.S. Senate. He is now comfortably living at Point Dume with hopes of sitting on the Malibu City Council.
As busy as Malibu City Council candidate Susan Tellem is, she still manages to rescue abandoned tortoises with her husband, run a national public relations agency and teach as an adjunct professor at Pepperdine University. Tellem has been a Malibu resident since 1997 and has since been voicing her concerns about the community, most recognizably in her letters to the editor in the Malibu Times. Tellem said that she is running for Malibu City Council to add diversity of opinion to the issues affecting Malibu.
Education. The platform of forty-six-year-old Kathy Wisnicki, one of five candidates running for a seat on the Malibu City Council, that has carried her through debates and campaigns for weeks.
Jefferson Wagner has worn many hats and played a range of roles during his three decades in the beach community, but that of surfer may fit him most comfortably. The 55 year-old owner of Zuma Jay’s surf shop is hoping to expand his colorful roster of titles to include Malibu City Council member.
At a recent candidate forum in Point Dume, sparks started flying early when candidate Jefferson Wagner indirectly called out the only incumbent running for Malibu City Council, current Mayor Pro Tem Pamela Conley Ulich, saying, “you’re going be back into the good old boys if the appointees of this City Council” are elected.
